Thanks Lisa and Jamin!

The digital stories took two weeks from start to finish. We used our literacy time to write our scripts and take the photos.

Recording was done in pairs and when someone was ready to record, their partner called out "quiet please, recording" then "thank you" when silence was no longer required. Everyone in the class did whatever they were doing, silently! (It was incredible how supportive they were of one another!!).

We're looking at uploading our completed photostory to our class wiki http://www.room18tis.wikispaces.com - just waiting for parental permission.

Hi Chrissy

I to have to say "Wow". I would love to see what one of the final products looked like.

This is a great idea. I am currently reviewing how I report to Parents and what needs to be included in that process. I am interested in trying your idea.

How long did it take to put these together?

I reckon it would be a great movie to add to an eportfolio (maybe a wiki or something) that the child took with them through school.

Way to go Chrissy!

Thanks Kirstin & Marnie!

Only my class created Photo Story presentations this time but I know that some teachers were very interested to see how it went. Hopefully we will have more using digital stories in the 3-way conferences.

Marnie, I'm sure that you can adapt this idea for 6 year olds - how awesome! Your parents will be blown away!

Let me know if I can help in any way!

Fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing it. I wonder how I could adapt that for 6 year olds... it sounds so good having the children reflecting on what they learnt and basically designing their own parent interview. Well done Chrissy!

Wow Chrissy, this sounds fantastic! I wish my son was in your class (he's Y7). I'm a total Photostory convert - I love it and many of the children in my class are choosing to use it instead of Powerpoint.
We don't do 3 way conferences at my school (I wish we did), but I can already see how I could adapt this idea to suit. Did your whole school create Photostory presentations or just your class?
Thanks for sharing.

Chrissy, I agree, I can't wait either. Vicki and I are really excited to be keynoting this year, but I am also looking forward to the whole event and the amazing learning opportunities for everyone globally. This is the true flattened conference...equal opportunity for all to participate!
See you there....PJ's and all!

Thanks for sharing this, it looks like just the thing for promoting fluency, reading with expression/voice and having fun with reading. I also teach 11 year olds, so I'll be interested in learning from your experiences while we're on summer vacation!

a marvellous topic to think about more deeply - I know at our school there is great resistance to even talking about 'green' issues. in fact, quite a negative response is gleaned from the majority of staff. i find it hard to believe in these times that so many heads are so far in the sand still
thanks for the thoughts :-)
